We Need Your Help

We rely on volunteer support for all areas of our youth center, and we need your help! Interested in volunteering? Check out our new volunteer website https://sunvalleyyouthcenter.galaxydigital.com/. Here you will be able to log hours, view opportunities & events, and more. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out Diamond Sykes at diamond@sunvalleyyouthcenter.org.

Some of the main volunteer functions that are always in demand are:

  • Mentoring
  • Tutoring (academic and music)
  • Programs (we currently have options for virtual engagement, though typically we offer on site)
  • Maintenance & Gardening

If you are seeking out opportunities for your organization to volunteer together, we are always in need of weekend work crews!

Volunteering at Sun Valley is all about the kids:
Playing with them
Giggling with them
Listening to them
Learning from them
Sharing with them
Finding opportunities for joy and kindness
The joy you give is reciprocated many fold. They are so appreciative of the little things.
Volunteering is an extremely rewarding part of my life. The staff are very supportive,
hard working and appreciative.
When I leave, I always have a big smile on my face as I think back on my afternoon.

Sun Valley Youth Center is one of those rare communities you find once in a lifetime, and once you find it, you never want to let it go. I was lucky enough to find SYVC during one of the hardest times in my life; I knew I was missing something in my life, but was not entirely sure what it was. I desperately wanted to feel connected to others, have an impact, and be a part of something much bigger than myself. For me, it only took one volunteer session to realize that this was the ‘it’ factor I was missing in my life. What I saw completely blew me away… I witnessed how compassion, patience, and encouragement were the foundation to all the values Sun Valley holds pure. From the staff helping students work through trauma to tutoring the students on their homework, I could see the direct impact this had on the students. This community is genuine to the core, and through the bad and the good days, SVYC exhibits one of the strongest communities I have ever seen. The staff, the students, the parents, and the Sun Valley community inspire me more and more each day, and it is for this reason that I continue to volunteer here. I absolutely love Sun Valley and the work they are doing to empower our future generations.
